A MESSAGE FROM THE PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Welcome to the Albany Medical Center Cardiology fellowship webpage! Albany Medical College was founded in 1839 and since that time boasts a rich history in medical education. Our Cardiovascular Fellowship Program has been in place for over 50 years and has produced many successful academic and clinical cardiologists. I am proud to tell you that I, and many of my colleagues are graduates of this program!

As a Division, we are collectively committed to the education of our fellows, housestaff, and medical students. As an applicant, you have many fellowship programs to consider. Our goal is to provide you with a superior training experience while also giving mentorship and support as needed. We recognize that during the next 3 years, life will throw you certain challenges, and we are here for you! I can promise that our fellows have a remarkable sense of camaraderie, which I feel only enhances the training program and allows you to have an experience that will be tremendously rewarding. Our fellows are the heart of our Division of Cardiology and their education and experience coupled with excellent patient care is our priority. We look forward to meeting you!

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is focused on training excellent clinicians with a broad exposure to all aspects of clinical cardiology with the anticipation that they will be competitive on the national scene for advanced fellowships, faculty positions, and clinical practice.

We also train our fellows as clinician educators. We offer a variety of opportunities to lead conferences and discussions within our institution with the ultimate goal that those who are enthusiastic about pursuing this career path, and have excelled in this aspect of training, may be recruited to any desired faculty position. We are confident that we will prepare our fellows to successfully practice cardiology in the private practice setting as well. We endeavor to provide our trainees with a solid foundation and statistics and research methodology not only to enhance their ability to critically  viewed the current literature, but so that those who are interested may also go on to engage in clinical research.

We strive to recruit fellowship candidates who will thrive and be successful in this environment.
